Introduction
2014 Wei-Wu-Ying Arts Festival (WAF) - Taiwan Performing Arts in Focus

Intro

Hosted by Ministry of Culture and organized by Performing Arts Alliance, 2014 Wei Wu Ying Arts Festival consists of performing arts events and exhibitions planned for general audiences, and also “Taiwan Focus”, a series of activities organized for performing arts professionals. Taiwan Focus including performing arts showcases, forum discussions, workshops, video presentation, rehearsal viewing and cultural tours, inviting domestic and international curators, festival and performing arts venue directors to participate.

The showcase took place in the course of the Festival in Kaohsiung and Taipei from 13th to 19th October 2014.The main festival activities wasmoved to Kaohsiung where the new National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Lyric Theatre, Concert Hall, Playhouse, and Recital Hall) will be opened in 2017.

The area was a historical military camp which was transformed into a central park of the city and performing arts center. National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts is expecting to become the heart of arts and culture of southern Taiwan, and in collaboration with two other national performing arts centers in Taichung and Taipei to form a close culture link in Taiwan also to establish international connection in performing arts.
